   WHO ARE WE

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18)

We are thrilled to announce that we are adopting again! For those of you not familiar with our story, here is a brief bit about us.

Years ago, we decided to set out on the journey to grow our family. We eagerly anticipated decorating a nursery, cuddling with our baby and creating traditions with our kids. These were all things we hoped God had in store for us, but could not have predicted the adventure he would take us on. Charles Spurgeon once said, “Is it not a curious thing that whenever God means to make a man great, He always first breaks him in pieces?” After many doctor visits, tests, treatments, four IUIs, and hefty medical bills, we found ourselves no closer to holding a baby in our arms. Through many tears and much prayer we decided to end that season of our lives and we began our next journey towards adoption. It is a journey that God wrote on each of our hearts long before we ever met. After a year and a half of paperwork, meetings, and lots of waiting, we finally brought home Eden. She has been such a joy but it is impossible to separate the incredible joy we feel to have her in our life from the loss in Eden's and her biological parents' stories. While adoption by nature is bittersweet with lots of loss and hurt, it is also one of hope. It is a tension that as an adoptive family you must learn to hold carefully. But even more than that, it is the story God has written for our family and we couldn't feel more blessed. We cannot wait to see how God will work to continue to grow our family in this next season.

As we begin this journey again, this is a place where we hope we can share the reality of the struggles we are facing in the process and the hope that is getting us through. It is a place where we can share the hopes and dreams of what we hope our family will one day be. It is a place where we can share the picture that God is painting for our family. And it is a place where we can learn from one another and journey together.

Thankful for your partnership,

Seth, Nikki and Eden Dunham
